International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOTIB) in Geneva

On May 17th we celebrate International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOTIB). Here is what is going on in Geneva to celebrate the day.  Looking forward to seeing you at any or all of these events!

Wednesday 16th May: “What are the Implications of Artificial Intelligence for LGBT people and SOGI Policies?”

This first confirmed event is being organised by UN AIDS, UN CARES and UN GLOBE on Wednesday May 16th 2018 at UNAIDS from 19:00. University of Sussex Professor Cynthia Webber will be giving the keynote address. We will also be joined by members of Suisse Romande-based network Pride@Work.

Thursday 17th May: "LGBT Voices: Our experiences in the workplace & beyond”

To mark IDAHOT, LGBT people will share their experiences and lived experiences on being LGBT at work and beyond. Join us at the ILO, 4 Route Des Morillons from 15:00 in Room IX to listen to thei testimonies. The event will be followed by an apero at 16:30.


Thursday 17th May: IDAHOTIB Picnic

It’s the 7th Annual Picnic apéro & fundraiser to commemorate IDAHOT (International Day Against Homophobia & Transphobia)

From 17h00, the Terrasse on Quai Wilson will fly the rainbow flag & give special prices on drinks to those wearing the “Freedom to love” bracelet. (Available at Dialogai or on site)

If weather permits, a pedal boat race around the lighthouse and back will take place between 17h00 & 19h00.

Other IDAHOBIT UN-GLOBE events around the world

Nairobi – The new UN-GLOBE logo will be officially unveiled in Nairobi on May 17. For the first time ever, the rainbow flag will be on display in the UN Office at Nairobi (UNON). And for the first time ever, IDAHOBIT will be celebrated at UNON.

New York – The Core Group of member states supporting LGBTI rights at the UN will be organizing an event for May 17 featuring key noteworthy allies from the media, entertaiment, the private sector, and sports.
